I am sending my e-mail early this week because there are several important opportunities I want you to be aware of and to have time to respond.
#1 Water Baptism this Sunday
We are having water baptisms this Sunday (November 12)! Water baptism is a spiritual act that God asks of every believer.
If you want to be baptized this Sunday at CIL click here.
If you have any questions about this, please feel free to e-mail, text or call me. I would love for you to make this step of obedience this Sunday in either of our services.
#2 Veterans Recognition
In honor of Veteran’s Day on November 11, CIL will recognize all veterans during service on Sunday, November 12. You do not need to let us know about veterans present in advance, as we will ask all veterans present to stand when their branch is recognized.
#3 Thanksgiving Blessing
Saturday, November 18 is our Thanksgiving Blessing! Our goal is to give away 185 fresh turkeys and all the ingredients for a family Thanksgiving meal for local families. Your gift of $25 will completely fund Thanksgiving dinner for someone who might be unable to provide that special meal without help. Will you take time to donate right now by clicking here.
The assembly team will gather on Friday evening, November 17 at 6:30pm to put the bags together. Volunteer sign-in on Saturday morning is at 8:30, with the give-away beginning at 9a.m. in the parking lot at the Goodwill Store on New Shackle Island Road. If you want to volunteer for Friday night packing or Saturday morning distribution, contact Gala Johnson at 615-440-6127.
#4 Operation Christmas Child begins!
You can share the love of Christ with children around the world through Operation Christmas Child. Pack a shoebox with Christmas gifts and drop it off November 13th – 20th (CIL is an official collection site). OCC adds a booklet with the gospel message and delivers the boxes around the world. In the hands of local churches, they become powerful tools for evangelism and discipleship.
Pick up information about what to pack at the OCC table in the lobby. We still have time slots available for volunteers to receive gift boxes as they’re dropped off. Let us know if you can help.
